10 Visionary Indian Projects & Its Designs You Must Know
1. Multi-Modal Transportation Hub
Location: Surat, Gujarat | Architects: CP Kukreja Architects
With the built-up size of 10,000,000 sqft., the building occupies 2,613,600 sqft. of site space. It consists of the East Side Station and the West Side Station Building, which are G+7. The area will be improved by the relocation of railway quarters and the addition of a G+3 to the GSRTC’s Interstate Bus Terminal Building. Easy access to the SMC City Bus and BRT station with the inclusion of a parking block and skywalk linkages above platforms and roads. With a projected completion date of 2026, construction had already started in 2023.
2. Navi Mumbai International Airport

To sustain the region’s continued growth, the foundation stone was laid by the PM of India in February 2018. To accommodate 60+ million passengers, this new airport’s design will speak to India’s future while celebrating the present and embracing the past. The lotus blossom, India’s national flower and a representation of grace and purity, served as the inspiration for the design. The airport’s layout provides it with cutting-edge technology that can coordinate operations with freeway connectivity, suburban rail metro, and water transportation. Construction began in August 2021 and is expected to be finished in 2025.
3. Noida International Airport
Location: New Delhi, India | Architects: Nordic Office of Architecture
With a built-up area of 110.700 m², this airport design combines culture and hospitality. With the ability to accommodate 30 million passengers annually, the plan envisions a future airport city with green areas in and around the structure, as well as expansion opportunities. The layout of the terminal is practical, ensuring smooth operations, effective workflows, and simple navigation. This airport will be unique and genuinely fit its location by utilizing a local color scheme, texture, pattern, and material palette, along with a lot of flora. It is anticipated that construction will be completed in April 2025, having started in 2021.
4. Gwalior Railway Station
Location: Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh | Architects: Studio Symbiosis
Architect Amit Gupta said, ‘The magical city of Gwalior is well-known for its palaces and forts, and our design aims to combine the old and the new while evoking this rich past.’ To combine the city’s heritage with modern comforts, the Gwalior Railway Station will undergo renovation. This renovation project will be at the heart of the new station’s mixed-old and modern architectural design. With Rs. 240 crores of budget, the station will accommodate 1.5 lakh passengers in 24 hours and an additional BUA of approximately 2,30,425 m²
5. Zero Mile Metro Station & Housing Complex
Location: Nagpur, Maharashtra | Architects: Enia Architects
This mixed-use project has 8,000 m² of site, with 3,000 m² dedicated to the metro, 20,000 m² to mixed-use areas, and 9,000 m² to parking facilities. The project intends to build an elevated metro station at the confluence of two metro lines in the Zero Mile area, at a budget of 14 million euros (not including tax). It also includes creating a housing program on the TTMC property, which will improve local residential and transportation alternatives. The project started in 2022 and is still moving forward with its goal of completion.
6. Inter State Bus Terminal, Noida
Location: Anand Vihar, Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Through the site’s approach side, a free-flowing, radiant form of curving roofing unifies the many components into an integrated scheme. Unlike any other transportation hub in the city, the design radiates an atmosphere of elegance. The site is defined by outdoor recreation areas such as sit-outs, green boulevards and avenues, green pavers, etc. because the landscape covers more than 60% of the property. Additionally, this transportation building has a built-up area of 1,000,000 sqft. in a site area of 1,089,000 sqft.
7. Ludhiana Railway Station Redevelopment
Location: Ludhiana, Punjab | Architects: GPM Architects
The redevelopment approach emphasizes the street culture and advocates the idea of a “livable street.” To reduce the length of the admission and exit routes, the concept has a defined center axis. To connect the two sides of the station complex, a distinct foot-over bridge and air concourse area aid in separating the flow of passengers arriving and departing. Following the planned renovation, the Ludhiana railway station hopes to transform user behavior and perception. Additionally, it aims to function as a miniature smart city with good urban architecture. The project started in 2022 and is still moving forward with its goal of completion in 2025.
8. Bihta Airport

9. Bamboo Bazar Metro Station
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
For the first time in India, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is building the Bamboo Bazaar Metro Station completely out of bamboo including the interiors. The Bamboo Society of India (BSI) has approved the initiative, which will use Indian and local bamboo to create green areas beneath metro trains. BMRCL will finance the initiative through its Corporate Social Responsibility fund, with an anticipated cost of ₹5–6 crores.
10. New Terminal Of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport
Location: Varanasi, Uttarpradesh | Architects: Creative Group
The new 75,000 m² terminal building accommodates 5,000 peak-hour passengers (PHP) and has a capacity of 6 million passengers per annum (MPPA). It aims to showcase the city’s rich cultural legacy. The plan calls for building a new Apron to accommodate 20 aircraft and expanding the runway. With the primary goal of guaranteeing environmental sustainability through energy optimization, waste recycling, carbon footprint reduction, solar energy utilization, and the integration of natural daylighting.
These examples of transportation buildings, which include bus stations, airports, and railway stations, demonstrate that traffic structures are capable of more than just being useful. Zero Mile metro station and housing complex is aesthetically pleasing and have a housing complex on the TTMC property, a shopping center, and a relaxation area.
